The non-crafter gets crafty (and actually enjoys it!)

A friend of mine, Karli, is incredibly artistic, creative, and cute, and she convinced me to join a "card club." For this club, each member has to create handmade cards every month, and then we exchange them. For those of you who know me well, I am SO not a crafter...I have no patience for it and no "eye" for it. So, I really only joined the club because I wanted to hang out with Karli.

The first month of card club, I cheated and had my crafty older sister make mine. (Thanks, Sarah!) The second month of card club, I cheated again and had Karli make mine. (Hey...it was a really busy month, and she offered!)

But this month, I actually buckled down and made my own cards--with the help of Karli, of course. This is a sample of my finished products:

It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be and, amazingly, it was quite enjoyable! In fact, last night, as I was driving home from work, I found myself brainstorming ideas for NEXT month's cards and getting excited. WHAT IN THE DEVIL??!! I am turning into a new woman! Before we know it, I am going to be a stay-at-home mom with six kids quilting up a storm in my free time!

  1. Cute cards! And are you making an announcement? Are you having sextuplets? And when you do have six kids, or any kids, you won't have ANY free time.

  5. Extremely cute!!! But I think it'll be more like 8 kids and running non-profit organizations in your free time! :)

  6. Oh, you are crafty alright... I believe it was at two good things where I was introduced to "hodge podge" or whatever that stuff was that we used to paint over our Two good things notebooks. You introduced a new form of craft to me! I knew you had it in you... deep down...

  10. Cute cards! Wish I could be more crafty, probably not gonna happen though. :) And yes! I definitely think you can do a marathon. The training is hard work, but not super intense. If you're going for a specific time it can get intense though. The key is making sure your body has recovery time between workouts. Also, since you've already ran a lot of half marathons all you'd have to do is up the mileage each week in your training. No biggie. There's a lot of different training schedules out there. I can email you one if you like? The one I was on, you just ran 4 days a week and it worked for me. Anyways, you should DEFINITELY do it! You'd do great. :)

  12. Kudos to your crafty adventure--they look great! We did an enrichment activity one night where we made a checkbook cover with some cute paper and stamps and ribbons and stuff and I seriously had to have the helper girl sit next to me and hold my hand the WHOLE time because I kept freaking out that mine wasn't going to look cute or that I would do something wrong. The combination of near OCD perfectionist with not very crafty is deadly to me sometimes. One mroe thing we have in common, right? But I have been slowly getting over my non-craftiness too...maybe by the time I have six kids I'll be making my own cards. :)
    you're great.
